The perfect protein for your lizard or amphibian! The banded cricket has a low chitin content, which is essential for reptile's immune system, but too much chitin can cause a full, undigested bundle in the abdomen that prevents your pet from feeling hungry and getting the nutrients they need!

Banded crickets are soft-bodied (unlike other crickets) and have .25 - 1% chitin compared to domestic crickets, (carried at most pet stores), which have 8-12% chitin. Chitin is anything crunchy on an invertebrate, so think harder bodies, wings, and legs. Banded cricket males have little mini-wings and the females have none at all!  About one in every 10-20k males, we will find one with full body-length wings!

Adult Banded Crickets (Gryllodes sigillatus) are truly the perfect reptile food and make great live feeders! Our feeder crickets are loved by frogs, bearded dragons, tarantulas, tortoises, geckos, leachianus, jumping spiders and chickens!

If our crickets are too lively for your pet (think leachie) just pop them in the fridge for 3-5 minutes and see if that helps to slow them down a bit! Larger crickets can withstand longer chill times.

Twin Cities Crickets are known for their long life span and quiet chirping.

These adult crickets can range in size from 13/16" to 1 1/4".

Our goal is to package all Banded Cricket orders with an average size variation no greater than 1/16" larger or smaller than the size ordered. Due to varying growth rates among even individuals born on the same day, there will typically be slight size variations and outliers in every order .
